Answer:

FIGURE TRIANGLE=6cm

P=3×side

= 3×2

=6cm

FIGURE SEMICIRCLE=5.5cm

P=1/2×2×22/7×3.5

=11/2

=5.5cm

Perimetre of whole figure=11.5cm

P of triangle + P of semicircle

=6cm+5.5cm

=11.5cm

To Find:

  • Perimeter of the figure

Construction:

  • Join the points, which now divide the figure into a triangle and a semicircle.

Solution:

Now the figure has 2 parts. A semicircle, whose arc's perimeter we need to find and a triangle whose perimeter to be found out too.

\\

First we take the Semicircle.

Radius of semicircle = diameter/2 = 3.5cm/2 = 1.75cm

=> Length of the arc =  \pi * r

=> Length of the arc = ^{22}/_{7} * 1.75

=> Length of the arc = 22 * 0.25

=> Length of the arc = 5.5cm ------(1)

\\

Now, we take the triangle.

=> Perimeter of the triangle = Sum of all sides.

=> Perimeter of the triangle = 2 + 2 + 3.5

=> Perimeter of the triangle = 7.5cm

But we dont have to count the third side(3.5cm) bcoz it is not there as an outer side of the complete figure. This means, that the side of 3.5cm will not be considered while taking the perimeter of the whole figure bcoz it is an interior length. So we subtract it from the perimeter.

=> Perimeter of the triangle after removing the third side = 4cm -----(2)

\\

=> Perimeter of whole figure = Length of arc + Sum of those 2 sides

From (1) & (2)

=> Perimeter of whole figure = (5.5 + 4)cm

=> Perimeter of whole figure = 9.5cm

Formula Used:

  • Length of arc of a semicircle =  \pi * r
  • Perimeter of triangle = Sum of all sides
