Area of (APB + CPD) = (22/7) x 10.5 x 10.5 = 346.5
Area of ( ABCD ) = 21 x 21 =441

Shaded area = 441-346.5
                      = 94.5 cm ^ 2

Answer : 94.5 cm ^ 2

97.5 cm^2 is the area of the shaded region.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Side of the square = 21cm

Since ABCD is a square,

Area of the square = S^2

= 21 * 21

= 441 cm^2

Area of semicircle = 1/2πr^2

= 1/2(21/2)^2

= 1/2 * π * 10.5 * 10.5

= 1/2 * 22/7 * 110.25

= 173.25

Area of both the semicircles = 2 * 173.25

= 346.5

Area of the shaded region = Area of the square - Area of both the semicircles

= 441 - 346.5

= 97.5 cm^2
