Find the perimeter of the shaded region if ABCD is a square of side 21 cm and APB & CPD are semicircles. (Use π=22/7).

I'm assuming that this is the diagram (see attachment).

Perimeter of shaded region
= Cirumferance of both semi-circles + 2(diameter)
= 2(2πr/2) + 2(21)
= (2)(22/7)(21/2) + 42
= 462 + 42
= 504 cm

Area of shaded region
= Area of square - 2(Area of semi-circle)
= (21)² - π(21/2)²
= 441 - (22/7)(441/4)
= 882/2 - 693/2
= 189/2
= 94.5 sq.cm
