The perpendicular distance of the point (6,4) from the X-axis is 4 unit

Given :

The point (6,4)

To find :

The perpendicular distance of the point (6,4) from the X-axis

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down the given point

Here the given point is (6,4)

Step 2 of 2 :

Find perpendicular distance of the point (6,4) from the X-axis

We know that for any given point (a, b)

Abscissa = x - coordinate = a

Ordinate = y - coordinate = b

So for the point (6,4)

Abscissa = x - coordinate of (6,4) = 6

Ordinate = y - coordinate of (6,4) = 4

We know that the perpendicular distance of a point from X-axis is called its ordinate

Hence perpendicular distance of the point (6,4) from the X-axis is 4 unit

Graphical explanation :

In the graph A represents the point (6,4)

From the graph we observe that the perpendicular distance of the point (6,4) from the X-axis is 4 unit
