Explanation:

7x + y + 3 = 0  ........(i)

x + y = 0  .........(ii)

subtracted eq (i) and (ii)

7x + y + 3 = 0  

x + y = 0

-    -   = -

...........................

6x + 3 = 0

x = -3/6

x = -(1\2)

putting it in eq(i)

-(1/2) +y = 0

y = 1/2

so point of intersection is (-1/2 , 1/2)
