Find the point of intersection of two lines:x+2y=10 and 2x-3y=7

Answer:

2x+3y=10………(i)

3x+2y=5 ……….(ii)

using elimination method, we could express the value of x in terms of y and whole number. using equation (i)

x=-(3/2)y+10……(iii)

using the value of x according to equation (iii)

-3(3/2)y+2y=5….(iv)

solving (iv)

-4.5y+2y=5….(v)

-2.5y=5, solving for y

you get y=-2.5

now replace y in either equation (i) or (ii)

2x+3(-2.5)=10……(vi)

2x=10+7.5…………(vii)

2x=17.5…………….(viii)

x therefore is equal to 8.75.

the line would intersect at (8.75, -2.5)
