Given  : the points on the x axis , which are at a distance of 2 root 6 units from the point (1,-2,3)

To Find : the points on the x axis

Solution:

Points on x axis  = ( x , 0 , 0)  as y and z coordinate will be zero

Distance of  ( x , 0 , 0)   from  (1,-2,3)    is 2√6

=> √(x - 1)²  + (0 - (-2))² + ( 0 - 3)²  =  ( 2√6)²

=> (x - 1)²   + 4  + 9  =  24

=>  (x - 1)²  = 11

=>  (x - 1)  = ±√11

=> x = 1  ±√11

Points on x axis   (  1  ±√11 , 0 , 0) which are at a distance of 2 root 6 units from the point (1,-2,3)

  (  1  +√11 , 0 , 0)  and    (  1  -√11 , 0 , 0)
