Answer :
We know that, potential difference remains constant in parallel connection
Hence, pd across upper part = 28V
Eq. capacitance of upper part :
⇒ 1/Cs = 1/C₁ + 1/C₂
⇒ 1/Cs = 1/6 + 1/8
⇒ 1/Cs = (8+6)/48 = 14/48
⇒ Cs = 48/14 uF
Net charge flow in upper part :
⇒ Q = Cs × V
⇒ Q = 48/14 × 28
⇒ Q = 48 × 2
⇒ Q = 96 uC
Charge on each capacitor remains same in series connection.
Therefore, Q₁ = Q₂ = Q = 96 uC
pd across C₁ :
⇒ V₁ = Q/C₁
⇒ V₁ = 96/6
⇒ V₁ = 16V
◈ Potential at point A :
➝ V(A) = 28 - V₁
➝ V(A) = 28 - 16
➝ V(A) = 12V
