Answer:

The specific heat of helium at constant volume is 12.6 Jmol^(-1)K^(-1). The specific heat of helium at constant pressure in Jmol^(-1)K^(-1) is about <br> (Assume the temperature of the gas is moderate, universal gas constant, R=8.314 J mol^(-1)K^(-1)

Given:-

Specific Heat at Const. pressure (Cp)=20.81 J/mol.k , Specific heat at const. Volume (Cv)= 12.5 J/mol.k , Mo= 4*10^-3 kg/mol

To Find :-

The Principal specific heat of helium (Ps) and the Gas Constant (R)

Solution:-

By using Mayer's formula i.e.  Cp-Cv=R

   =>  R= 20.81 - 12.5 = 8.31 J/mol. k

  => The value of Universal Gas Constant 'R'= 8.31 J/mol.k

  • Principal specific heat is defined as the amount of heat required per unit mass to change the temperature by 1°C

So, Principal Specific Heat of Helium ;

=>      Ps= Cp/Mo

=>          = 20.81/4*10^-3

=>   Ps    = 5.202*10^3 J/Kg.k
