Answer:

In a pack of 52 cards, there are 4 Kings, 4 Queens, and 4 ace

a) Probability of a King

probability of events P(E) = \frac{number of favorable outcomes}{total number of  outcomes}

=> no. of favorable outcomes = 4 (as there are 4 kings)

=> total no. of outcomes = 52

P(King) = 4/ 52

= 1/ 13

b) Probability of a Queen

probability of events P(E) = \frac{number of favorable outcomes}{total number of  outcomes}

=> no. of favorable outcomes = 4 (as there are 4 queens)

=> total no. of outcomes = 52

P(Queen) = 4/ 52

= 1/ 13

c) Probability of an Ace

probability of events P(E) = \frac{number of favorable outcomes}{total number of  outcomes}

=> no. of favorable outcomes = 4 (as there are 4 Ace)

=> total no. of outcomes = 52

P(Ace) = 4/ 52

= 1/ 13

d) Probability of a Non-Face Card

In a deck of cards :-

  • Face cards = cards that have a face i.e., king, queen, jack,
  • Non-Face cards = cards that do not have faces i.e., 1, 2, Ace, etc.

So, total number of non-face cards = total cards - face cards

= 52 - 12 (∵ {queen = 4 cards} +{king = 4 cards}+{ jack = 4 cards})

= 40

=> no. of favorable outcomes = 40(as there are 40 non-face cards)

=> total no. of outcomes = 52

P(non-face card) = 40/ 52

= 10/ 13
