formula used :-

probability of an event = no. of favourable outcomes ÷ total no. of outcomes.

From rolling a dice,

we can get the number on the 6 faces of dice like either 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 or 6.

so, total no. of outcomes we can get = 6

no. of outcomes in which we get a prime no. (ie 2 , 3  and 5 ) = 3

Therefore, the probability of getting a prime number in a throw of dice

= 3/6 = 1/2 = 0.5 or 50%
