the probability of a spade or an ace card=favourable event/total event =16/52=8/13 spade cards=13 ace cards=4 there is one card which is a spade ace. so, 13+4-1=16

its very simple it would be 12/13
no of spade = n(S) =4
no of non ace n(A') = 48
n (S and A')= 4
hence
P(S or A')=P(S)+P(A')-P(S and A') = 4/52 + 48/52 - 4/52 = 12/13.
