Step-by-step explanation:

given,

2x +7y= 39...(i)

3x+5y=31....(ii)

now considering i

2x+7y=39

2x=39-7y

x=39/2 -7/2y.....(iii)

returning the value of x in ii

3[(39/2)-(7/2)y]+5y=31

(117/2)-(21/2)y+5y=31

(117/2)-31=(21/2)y-5y

55/2=(11/2)y

cancelling 2 both side

55=11y

y=55/11=5

from iii,

x=(39/2)-(7/2)y

x=(39/2)-(7/2)5

x=(39-35)/2

x=4/2=2

so your answer is x=2,y=5

hope u understand,
