i) (x+1)(x+2)

= x²+(1+2)x+1×2

= x²+3x+2

ii) (3x+5)(3x+1)

= (3x)²+(5+1)(3x)+5×1

= 9x²+6×3x+5

= 9x²+18x+5

iii) (3a+5)(3a-8)

= (3a)²+(5-8)(3a)+5×(-8)

= 9a²+(-3)(3a)-40

= 9a²-9a-40
