multiplicative inverse is also called reciprocal

for -8 it is -1/8

for -1/16 it is -16

so answer is 2

The product of multiplicative inverse of -8 and -1/16 is 2

Solution:

Given, two numbers are -8 and \frac{-1}{16}

We have to find the product of multiplicative inverses of the given numbers.

Now, let us find the multiplicative inverses of given numbers.

We know that, product of a number and its multiplicative inverse = 1

So, multiplicative inverse of -8 x (-8) = 1

Multiplicative inverse of -8 is \frac{-1}{8}

And, multiplicative inverse of \frac{-1}{16} \times\left(\frac{-1}{16}\right)=1

Multiplicative inverse of \frac{-1}{16} = -16

Now, product of multiplicative inverses of given numbers =\frac{-1}{8} \times(-16)=-1 \times(-2)=2

Hence, the product of multiplicative inverses of given numbers is 2
