QUESTION:

find the product of zeros of polynomial P(x) = x^2 - 9 x - 10

ANSWER:

There are two ways to find the product of the zeroes of polynomial.

1. Factorised it and find zeroes

2. By using formula

Method 1 :

1. Split the middle term in such a way that it's sum equal to b i.e -9 and product equal to a ×c that is -10.

 {x}^{2}  - 9x - 10 \\  {x}^{2}  - 10x + x - 10 \\

2. TAKING common

x(x - 10) + 1(x - 10)

(x + 1)(x - 10)

so;

x + 1 = 0 \\ x =  - 1 \\  \\  \\ x - 10 = 0 \\ x = 10

zeroes \: are \:  - 1 \: and \: 10

product of zeros =

 - 1 \times 10 \\  - 10

Method 2.

We used the formula here;

\huge\pink{product \: of \: zeroes =  \frac{constant \: term}{coefficient \: of \:  {x}^{2} } }

putting thevalue in the formula;

product =  \frac{ - 10}{1}

product \:  =  - 10

FINAL ANSWER;

\huge\red{- 10}
