The product of (x - 4)(x + 5) = (x² + x - 20)

GIVEN:- (x - 4) (x + 5)

TO FIND:- the product of the given

SOLUTION:-

  • The product of two numbers or variables is the multiplication of times of the two numbers or variables.

According to the question,

(x - 4) (x + 5) \\

We'll multiply x and -4 with each number and variable from the other factor.

 = x(x + 5) - 4(x + 5) \\ = {x}^{2} + 5x - 4x - 20

Subtracting the coefficient of x

 = {x}^{2} + x - 20

Hence, the product of (x - 4)(x + 5) = (x² + x - 20)
