x2+1= 2, x2=1, x=±1. Now, x4+ 1/x4= 14 + 1/14 = 1+1=2 [When x=1]. X4+ 1/x4 = (- 1)4+ 1/(-1)4= 1+ 1 =2 [When x=-1].
