Given:

  • Sum of roots (α + β) = 2
  • Product of roots (αβ) = -3

To find:

  • Quadratic polynomial = ?

Solution:

As we know that

Quadratic polynomial = - (α + β)x + αβ

Here , substituting the value of α + β & αβ we have

→ x² - 2x + (-3)

Quadratic polynomial = - 2x - 3

Roots of quadratic equation :-

x = - b² - 4ac/2a

Where

  • x : roots
  • b : coefficient of x
  • a : coefficient of x²
  • c : constant term

Here , - 4ac also equal to or D called as delta or determinant.
