the

x=1,x=-3

x-1=0....(1),x+3.....(2)

multiplying (1) and (2) we get

\large{(x-1)(x+3)=0}

x {}^{2}  + 3x - x - 3 = 0

x {}^{2}  + 2x - 3 = 0
