Given: (x^4 + 4x -3x^2 + 10) divided by (x^2 + 1 - x)

To find: the quotient and remainder by long division method .

Solution:

  • Now we have given  (x^4 + 4x -3x^2 + 10) divided by (x^2 + 1 - x) .
  • By long division method, we have:

x^2 - x + 1  ) x^4 + 0x^3 - 3x^2 + 4x  + 10  ( x^2 + x - 3

                    x^4  - x^3 + x^2

                    ( -        +          -   )

                               x^3  - 4x^2 + 4x  + 10

                               x^3  -  x^2  +  x

                               ( -      +          -   )

                                         - 3x^2 + 3x + 10

                                         - 3x^2  - 3x  - 3

                                          (   +       +     + )

                                                       6x + 13

  • So the remainder is  6x + 13 and quotient is x^2 + x - 3.

Answer:

              So the remainder is  6x + 13 and quotient is x^2 + x - 3.
