Radius= 2cm

2×π×r×h=176

2×22/7×r×14=176

r = 176 ×7/44×14

r =2cm

Given

  • Height of a right circular cylinder = 14 cm
  • Curved surface area of the right circular cylinder = 176 cm²

To find

  • Radius of the base of a right circular cylinder

Concept

As we know,

Curved surface area of cylinder = 2πrh

  • We are having the values of the Curved surface area of the cylinder, height of the cylinder.
  • By substituting the values in the formula we will find the radius of the cylinder.

Solution

Using formula,

Curved surface area of cylinder = 2πrh

Where,

  • Take π = 22/7
  • r = radius of the cylinder
  • h = height of the cylinder

Substituting the values,

176 = 2 × 22/7 × r × 14

176 = 44/7 × r × 14

176 = 616/7 × r

(176 × 7)/616 = r

1232/616 = r

2 = r

∴ Radius of the cylinder = 2 cm

Let's verify -:

Substituting the value of radius of the cylinder in the formula of the cylinder.

2 × 22/7 × 2 × 14

88/7 × 14

88 × 2

176 cm²

Hence, verified.
