Solution:

To find the rate of discount or discount%, at first we have to find the discount.So let's find:-

Finding Discount

MP = ₹850

SP = ₹743.75

Discount = MP - SP

Discount = ₹(850 - 743.75)

Discount = ₹106.25

Finding Discount%

MP = ₹850

Discount = ₹106.25

Discount% = \tt\frac{discount}{MP}×100\\

Discount% = \tt\frac{106.25}{850}×100\\

Discount% = \tt{\cancel{\frac{10625}{850}}}\\

Discount% = 12.5

Hence, rate of discount is 12.5%.

Additional Information:

SP = MP - discount.

MP = SP + discount.

After a discount of d% on the MP,

SP = (1 - d/100) × MP.

After two successive discounts of d₁% and d₂% on the MP,

SP = (1 - d₁/100) (1 - d₂/100) × MP
