Solution-

The first question is what is the third proportional to 4 and 5.

We know that if a and b are two numbers and the third proportional to a and b is x, then

a:b :: b:x

a/b = b/x

Here a = 4 and b = 5

we can write

4:5 :: 5:x

4/5 = 5/x

By cross multiplication,

4x = 25

x = 25/4

The second question is what is the fourth proportional to 3,6,18.

Let the fourth quotient of 3,6,18 be y.

Then, 3:6 :: 18:y

8/6 = 18/y

By cross multiplication,

3 × y = 18 × 6

y = 18 × 6 / 3

y = 36

Now the ratio between the 3rd share is 4.5 and the 4th share is 3.6.18

25/4 / 36 = 25 / 4 × 36 = 25 / 144 = 25 : 144
