first take the ratio as k:1 and then you will get k as 2
then use it while comapring it and you will get the value of x is (13/3 , 0)

Answer:

The line segment AB is dividing x axis in 2:1.

Step-by-step explanation:

The line segment joining the point A(3,-6) and B(5,3).

The point where the line dividing x axis is (x,0).

Using section formula.

y=\frac{my_2+ny_1}{m+n}

Let the line segment AB is dividing x axis in k:1, then

y=\frac{ky_2+(1)y_1}{k+1}

0=\frac{k(3)+(1)(-6)}{k+1}

3k-6=0

3k=6

k=2

Therefore the line segment AB is dividing x axis in 2:1.
