Let the line 3x + y – 9 = 0 divide the line segment

joining the points A(1,3) and B(2,7) at the point C

in the ratio k:1

Then point C by section formula is

As C lies on the line3x + y – 9 = 0, we have

6k + 3 + 7k + 3 - 9k - 9 = 0

4k - 3 = 0

The required ratio is 3:4 internall
