The ratio in which the line joining (x_{1},y_{1}) and (x_{2},y_{2}) is divided by the y-axis is (-x_{1} : x_{2})

(x_{1},y_{1}) = (3,4) \\ (x_{2},y_{2}) = (-2,1)

The required ratio =  \frac{-3}{-2}
= 3 : 2
