We know that the equation of x axis is y = 0

Let us take C(x,0) as a point on x axis.

Let the x axis divide the line in the ratio k:1

According to section formula,

y coordinate = 0 is equal to:

 \frac{k( - 4) + 1( - 6)}{k + 1}  = 0

 - 4k - 6 = 0

k =  \frac{6}{ - 4}

k =  \frac{ - 3}{2}

Hence k:1 = 3/2 or k:1 = 3:2
