Answer:

Ratio:1 (-3/2,0)

Step-by-step explanation:

As the co-ordinate lies on x-axis and y is 0 P(x,0)

let us take ratio k:1,where m1=k and m2=1

A(1,-5)

B(-4,5)

x1=1

y1=-5

x2=-4

y2=5

Using section formula

P(x,0)=m1x2+m2x1/m1+m2,m1y2+m2y1/m1+m2

         =k(-4)+1(1)/k+1,k(5)+1(-5)/k+1

P(x,0)=-4k+1/k+1,5k-5/k+1

Taking y co-ordinate

5k-5/k+1=0

=> 5k-5=0

5k=5

k=5/5

k=1

Therefore,ratio is 1.

Taking x co-ordinate

x=-4k+1/k+1

Substituting k value

x=-4(1)+1/1+1

=-4+1/2

=-3/2

P(x,0)=P(-3/2,0)
