Use section formula : \frac{mx_2+nx_1}{m+n}, \frac{my_2+ny_1}{m+n}m+nmx2+nx1,m+nmy2+ny1

Substitute the values of x_1 , x_2x1,x2

so, \frac{m(-3)+n(6)}{m+n}=-1m+nm(−3)+n(6)=−1

which implies, -3m+6n=-m-n−3m+6n=−m−n

-2m=-7n−2m=−7n

implies,

\frac{m}{n} = \frac{7}{2}nm=27

Therefore, the point divides the line in ratio 7:2
