Take (-6,10) as A, (3,-8) as B, and (-4,6) as C.

Let the ratio that point C divides AB into be m1:m2

By the section formula,

(-4,6) =

(-4,6) = (3m-6n/m+n, -8m+10n/m+n)

-4 = 3m-6n/m+n

Cross-Multiply to get:

-4(m+n) = 3m - 6n

-4m-4n = 3m - 6n

-7m = -2n

7m = 2n

m:n = 2:7

Therefore the required ratio is 2:7.
