then  m= k and n = 1

now by using section formula we get

P(x, y) = ( mx₂+nx₁/m+n , my₂+ny₁/ m+n )

⇒ x = mx₂+nx₁ /m+n

⇒ 0 = k(-7)+1×4 /k+1

on solving we get

k/1 = 4/7

Therefore the ratio will be 4: 7 which divides the given line segment.
