Let the ratio is a:1 & on y axis, x = 0

so,

 \frac{a \times 2 + 1 \times 6}{a + 1}  = 0

2a + 6 = 0

a =  - 3

so y axis divide line segment externally in 3:1.

Now y coordinate of point is

 \frac{ - 3 \times 4 + 1 \times 4}{3 - 1}  =  - 4

so point of intersection is ( 0 , -4 ).
