To Find:-

The ratio of tne followings:-

Solution:-

1. 50kg : 1 quintal

→‎‎ Here the units are not same. So for finding the ratio we need to bring these into same units.

We know 1 quintal = 100 kg

So the ratio = 50 kg : 100 kg

Now,

50 kg : 100 kg

= 50kg/100kg

Reducing these to lower term,

= 50/100

= 1/2

= 1 : 2

Hence the final ratio is 1 : 2

2. 25 paise : Rs. 2

→ Here the units are not same. So we need to bring these into same units.

We know,

Rs.1 = 100 paise

Hence

Rs.2 = 2 × 100 paise = 200 paise

Now,

Ratio is as follows:-

25 paise : 200 paise

= 25 paise/200 paise

Reducing into lower term,

= 1/8

= 1 : 8

Hence the final ratio is 1 : 8

3. 200m : 4 km

→ Here the units are not same. So we need to bring these into same units.

We know,

1 km = 1000 m

Hence,

4 km = 4 × 1000 = 4000 m

Now,

The ratio is as follows:-

200 m : 4000 m

= 200 m/4000 m

Reducing into lower terms,

= 1/20

= 1 : 20

Hence, the final ratio is 1 : 20

4. 6 months : 1 1/4 years

Here the units are not same. So we need to bring these into same units.

We know,

1 year = 12 months

1 1/4 years = 5/4 × 12 = 15 months

Now,

The ratio is as follows:-

6 months : 15 months

= 6 months/15 months

Reducing into lower terms,

= 2/5

= 2 : 5

Hence the final ratio is 2 : 5

5. 5 hours : 2 days

Here the units are not same. So we need to bring these into same units.

We know,

1 day = 24 hours

Hence,

2 days = 2 × 24 hours = 48 hours

Now,

The ratio is as follows:-

5 : 24

This cannot be reduced into lower terms.

Hence the final ratio is 5 : 24.

________________________________

6. 1 1/3 : 2 1/4 : 2 1/2

→ = 4/3 : 9/4 : 5/2

Taking LCM of the denominator,

LCM of 3, 4 and 2 is 12

Now multiplying all the ratios by 12

= 4/3 × 12 : 9/4 × 12 : 5/2 × 12

= 16 : 27 : 30

Hence the final ratio is 16 : 27 : 30

7. 30 day : 5 weeks

→ Here the units are not same. So we need to bring these into same units.

We know,

1 week = 7 days

Hence,

5 weeks = 5 × 7 = 35 days

Now,

The ratio is as follows:-

30 days : 35 days

= 30 days : 35 days

Reducing into lower terms,

= 6/7

= 6 : 7

Hence the final ratio is 6 : 7.

8. 500 g : 2.5 kg

→ Here the units are not same. So we need to bring these into same units.

We know,

1 kg = 1000 g

Hence,

2.5 kg = 2.5 × 1000 = 2500 g

Now,

The ratio is as follows:-

500g : 2500g

= 500g/2500g

Reducing into lower term,

= 1/5

= 1 : 5

Hence the final ratio is 1 : 5.

________________________________

9. 400 cm : 8 m

→ Here the units are not same. So we need to bring these into same units.

We know,

1 m = 100 cm

Hence,

8 m = 8 × 100 = 800 cm

Now,

The ratio is as follows:-

400 cm : 800 cm

= 400 cm/800 cm

Reducing into lower terms,

= 1/2

= 1 : 2

Hence the final ratio is 1 : 2.
