\bold{ANSWER :}

We know that, 1 litre = 1000 ml

Then, 2 litres = 2000 ml

Hence, the required ratio of 500 ml to 2000 ml be

= 500 : 2000

= 5 : 20

= \bold{1 : 4}

Given:

Two physical quantities 500ml and 2 liters.

To Find:

The ratio of the two physical quantities.

Solution:

1. The given two physical quantities are 500ml and 2 liters.

2. 1 liter of a quantity is equal to 1000ml of the same quantity.

=> 2 liters of a quantity is equal to 2000ml.

3. The ratio of 500ml to 2L is,

=> 500ml/2L, ( units of the different types cannot be simplified ).

=> 500ml/2000ml,

=> (5 x 100)/(5 x 4 x 100),

=> 1/4.

4. The same ratio can be calculated differently,

=> 1000 ml of a quantity implies 1 liter,

=> 500ml of the quantity implies 0.5 liters.

=> Ratio of the quantities 500ml/2L is,

=> 0.5L/2L ( Units of the same type can be simplified ),

=> 1/4.

Therefore, the ratio of 500ml to 2 liters is 1:4.
