Find the ratio of the volumes of a cone and of a cylinder whose base and diameter and height are equal.

Common diameter = d
Let common radius be d/2

common height be h

volume of cone=1/3πr^2h

volume of cylinder=πr^2h

v(cone)/v(cylinder)=
 \frac{1}{3} \times \pi \times (d/2 ){}^{2} \times h \div \pi \times (d/2){ }^{2} \times h

= 1/3/1
=1:3

As similarly

v(cylinder):v(cone)=3:1
