  • The first side is 9 cm.
  • The second side is 15 cm.

Given :–

  • The ratio of two sides of a parallelogram = 3 : 5.
  • Perimeter of a parallelogram = 48 cm.

To Find :–

  • The two sides of the parallelogram.

Solution :–

Let,

The first side be 3x.

The second side be 5x.

We know that,

Perimeter of a parallelogram = 48 cm.

→ 2(a + b) = 48 cm ––––(1)

  • a = 3x.
  • b = 5x.

Firat, we need to find the value of x.

→ 2(3x + 5x) = 48 cm

→ 2 × 8x = 48 cm

→ 8x = \sf\cancel\dfrac{48}{2} cm

→ 8x = 24 cm

→ x = \sf\cancel\dfrac{24}{8} cm

→ x = 3 cm.

Now, we have to find the both sides.

First side = 3x = 3 × 3 = 9 cm.

Second side = 5x = 5 × 3 = 15 cm.

Hence,

The first side is 9 cm and the second side is 15 cm.

Verification :–

In equation (1),

→ 2(a + b) = 48 cm

Here,

  • a = 9 cm.
  • b = 15 cm.

Now, substitute this values in equation (1),

→ 2(9 cm + 15 cm) = 48 cm

→ 2(24 cm) = 48 cm

→ 48 cm = 48 cm
