Your Question is not Correct. The Correct Question is:

Find the ratio in which line joining A(1,-5) and B(-4,5)is divided by x- axis.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The segment joining A(x1, y1)=(1,-5) and point B(x2, y2)=(-4,5)  divided by the x-axis.

To find :

In what ratio is the line joining between Point A and Point B is divided by x-axis.

Solution :

Let the line AB divides by Point P in a ration k:1

Now, using Section Formula

(x3,y3)=(\frac{mx2+nx1}{m+n},\frac{my2+ny1}{m+n})

∵The line is divided by x- axis,

∴Point C has the co-ordinates(x3,0)

So,

y3= \frac{my2+ny1}{m+n}\\=>0=\frac{k.5-1.5}{k+1}\\=>0=5k-5\\=>5k=5\\=>k=1

∴ x- axis divide the line segment AB in the 1:1 ratio.

Therefore, The ratio is 1:1.
