Answer:

1.5 m/s

Explanation:

A/c to question,

Mass of gun (Ma)= 6 kg Mass of bullet (Mb)= 0.03 kg

Initial velocity of bullet (Ub)= 0 m/s

Initial velocity of gun (Ua)= 0m/s

Final velocity of bullet (Vb)= 300 m/s

Final velocity of gun (Va)= ? (to find)

Hence, according to the law of conservation of mass,

MaUa + MbUb = MaVa + MbVb

So, by putting respective values in formula,

6 × 0 + 0.03 × 0 = 6 × Va + 0.03 × 300

So, 0 + 0 = 6Va + 9

Or, 6Va = -9

Therefore, Va = -9/6 = -3/2 = -1.5 m/s

So, the recoil velocity of gun is 1.5 m/s in opposite direction.

That's all...

Thank you...

Hope, may it help you...
