Answer:

mass of the gun (M)= 5kg

mass of the bullet (m) = 0.025 kg

velocity of the bullet (v) = 500m/s

recoil velocity (V)= ?

mv/M=V

0.025x500/5= V

V= 2.5m/s

Correct question:-

Find the recoil velocity of a gun having mass equal to 5kg,if a bullet of 25gm acquires the velocity 500m/s after firing from the gun.

Given:-

→Mass of the gun(M)=5kg

→Mass of the bullet(m)=25g

→Velocity of the bullet(v)=500m/s

To find:-

→Recoil velocity of the gun(V)

Solution:-

Firstly,let us convert the mass of the bullet from g to kg

=>1 g = 0.001kg

=>25g = 25×0.001

=>0.025kg

By using Law of Conservation of momentum,we get:-

=>M(-V)+mv=0

=>V=mv/M

=>V=0.025×500/5

=>V=0.025×100

=>V=2.5m/s

Thus,recoil velocity of the gun is 2.5m/s.
