Consider the cylinder from a side view.
Take a finite slice from the end.
The volume of this will be the elliptical area multiplied by this small width (dx).
As you move along the area of each “slice” reduces.
You would need to do a “function of a function” because between any two limits the elliptical areas taper.
I did something similar once with a beam of tapering cross section, and I had to do function of a function.
I haven't searched, but I would imagine there is a standard formula.
If not, look up function of a function in terms of integration.
