Find the remainder if 4x^3 – 12x^2 + 11x – 5 is divided by x −1/2.(Use remainder theorem

remainder theorem : if any polynomial f(x) is divided by another polynomial x - a then, remainder obtained is f(a).

given, polynomial P(x) = 4x³ - 12x² + 11x - 5 is divided by x - 1/2.

so, remainder will be P(1/2) = 4(1/2)³ - 12(1/2)² + 11(1/2) - 5

= 4/8 - 12/4 + 11/2 - 5

= 1/2 - 3 + 11/2 - 5

= (1 + 11)/2 - 8

= 6 - 8

= -2

hence, remainder obtained is -2.
