P(x)= x^ + 1 Divided by (x +1)

So,

=> (x + 1) = 0

=> x = -1

Put this in P(x)

We get,

  =  > {x}^{2}  + 1  \\  =  >  {( - 1)}^{2}  + 1 \\  =  > 1 + 1 = 2

So the remainder is 2.
