we have to find remainder when 4x³ - 3x² + 2x - 4 is divided by x - 1 using remainder theorem.

solution : remainder theorem : if a polynomial f(x) is divided by (x - a), remainder must be f(a).

here polynomial, f(x) = 4x³ - 3x² + 2x - 4

(x - a) = (x - 1) ⇒a = 1

so the remainder = f(a) = f(1)

= 4(1)³ - 3(1)² + 2(1) - 4

= 4 - 3 + 2 - 4

= -1

Therefore, when 4x³ - 3x² + 2x - 4 is divided by x - 1, remainder will be -1.
