f(x) = 2x - 1 = 0 \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x =  \frac{1}{2}

Now,

p(x) =  {4x}^{3}  -  {12x}^{2}  + 14x - 3 \\  \\ p( \frac{1}{2}) =  {4( \frac{1}{2} )}^{2}  - 12 {( \frac{1}{2} )}^{2}  + 14( \frac{1}{2} ) - 3 \\ \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   = 4( \frac{1}{16} ) - 12( \frac{1}{4} ) + 7 - 3\\ \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  \frac{1}{4}  - 3 + 7 - 3 \\ \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  \frac{1 - 12 + 28    - 12}{4} \\ \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  \frac{29 - 24}{4}  =  \frac{5}{4}  = 1.25
