Find the remainder when the polynomial P(x) = 2x3 - 5x2 + 3x + 7 is divided by (2x + 1).

Answer:

P(x) = 2x³ - 5x² + 3x + 7

g(x) = 2x + 1 = 0

x = -1/2

put the in p(x) .....this method is called remainder method.

p(x) = 2x³ - 5x² + 3x + 7

p(-1/2) = 2(-1/2)³ - 5(-1/2)² + 3(-1/2) + 7

= 2(-1/8) - 5/4 - 3/2 + 7

= -1/4 - 5/4 - 3/2 + 7

= (-1-5-6+28)/4

= 16/4

= 4

thus remainder is 4
