Correct Question :-

Find the remainder when x³ + 3x² + 3x + 1 is divided by x + 1

Solution :-

Let f(x) = x³ + 3x² + 3x + 1

If f(x)  \div x + 1

First find the zero of x + 1

To find zero of x + 1 equate x + 1 to 0

x + 1 = 0

x = - 1

By remainder theorem f(-1) is the remainder

f(x) = x³ + 3x² + 3x + 1

Now substitute x = - 1 in the above equation

f( - 1) = (-1)³ + 3{(-1)²} + 3(-1) + 1

= - 1 + 3(1) - 3 + 1

= - 1 + 3 - 3 + 1

= 4 - 4

= 0

f( - 1) = 0

Therefore the remainder when x³ + 3x² + 3x + 1 is divided by x + 1 is 0
