Answer:

2x+1=0

x=-1/2

By remainder theorem.

p(x)=x²-8x+4

Put x=-1/2 in p(x)

p(-1/2)=(-1/2)²-8(-1/2)+4

=1/4+4+4

=

 \frac{1 }{4}  + 4 + 4

 \frac{1}{4}  + 8

 \frac{33}{4}

Hence the remainder is 33/4
