Given:

A polynomial x³+3x² + 3x +1.

To find:

The remainder when x³+3x² + 3x +1 is divisible by x + 1.

Solution:

To answer this question, first of all, we should know that if a polynomial p(x) is divided by (x - a) then the remainder is obtained by p(a).

Now,

proceeding to the solution, we have,

p(x): x³+3x² + 3x +1

When it is divided by x + 1, the remainder is given by:

p(-1):

 = { (- 1)}^{3} + 3 { (- 1)}^{2} + 3( - 1) + 1

 = - 1 + 3 - 3 + 1

 = 0

Hence, when x³+3x² + 3x +1 is divided by x + 1, the remainder obtained is 0.
