Find the result of mixing 10 g of ice at -10°C with 10 g of water at 10°C. Specific heat capacity. 2 k of ice = 2.1 J g-¹ K-¹, specific latent heat of dice = 336 J g¹ and specific heat capacity of water = 4.2 J g-¹ K-¹.​

0.625 g ice will melt. Temperature will remain 0∘

SOLUTION

heat realesed by water when it reaches to 0oC is Q=10×4.2×10=420J

let the heat absorbed by ice , so the mass melt me m of ice

420=m×336+10×2.1×(0−(−10))

m=0.625, and system will remain at 0oC
